Marvel vs. Capcom 2. New Age of Heroes (Dreamcast)
MVC 2 was a really good fighting game, for the Dreamcast.
And it plays really well, using Reicast r6 emulator, on my
Samsung Galaxy SM-T280 tablet. And it seldom slows down.
The character sprites, do pixelate once in a while. Especially when Dr.Doom, or cutesy girl Tron Bonne, enter the battle.
But it is still highly playable and is really fun to play.
It works well on Reicast r6 emulator, which can be found on
the Google Playstore.
I rate it: 9.6 out of 10 stars.
Now go buy a Dreamcast, or play it on Reicast emulator.
Enjoy. ^_^
Marvel and Capcom characters unite for a final time in what is probably the best 2D fighting game on the Dreamcast, features near-arcade perfect gameplay due to the close relationship of NAOMI and Dreamcast.
Jack Frost says:A sequel to the original Marvel vs. Capcom. This time you have 3 on 3 team matches instead of 2 on 2. Featuring over 50 characters including fan favorites like Megaman, Morrigan Aensland, Strider Hiryu, The Hulk, Spiderman, and Wolverine, (gotta do a match between these guys sometime) this game has tremendous replay value. The characters themselves are 2d sprites, while the backgrounds are 3d on a 2d plane. Great Music, replay value, gameplay, and ascessibility make this a must for Dreamcast owners who love fighting games.
Jedekai rates this game: 5/5Quite possibly the closest video games have come to emulating pure insanity - you want advanced moves? How about NINE? Special moves? Each character starts with five, and almost all of them have additional conditions to activate in special circumstances (in-air, while it hits, while BEING hit...). Then there's the roster - balanced and effective; Hulk not seem as dangerous in your hands as the other guy's? You've probably got a bad partner for his continuation attacks.
If there are a few complaints about the game it would be that the computer is known to be a cheating jerk on the higher difficulty settings. Completing the game, even with 99 continues used, on the Hardest setting usually will get you lifetime respect. The graphics get pixelated during heavy sequences to prevent slowdown (the bane of all 2D fighters) and the super moves can have unintended secondary consequences - or combo opportunities depending on how you view them.
Ultimately, this is the single greatest 2D fighter of the classic era for 'twitch' gameplay - not as deep as Street Fighter III or as nuanced as King of Fighters '99-and-forward - but it's the perfect party game, even more than any Smash Bros. It's a pure, true classic. Plus, there's nothing more satisfying that beating the crap out of someone with back-to-back 99 hit combos. P.S.: I love you Mega Man, Strider and Venom.
9.75/10

Talk about Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - The New Age of Heroes (USA):
Mvc2 Arcade Emulator
Please enable JavaScript to view the comments powered by Disqus. You would not believe how many hours I have spent with Marvel vs Capcom 2 over the years. No matter if it is the Dreamcast, Xbox 360 or even right here. This is a game that I always have had a great time with and it is one of the most popular fighting games of its generation or a very good reason.
How Many Characters?
One of the things that the last two Marvel vs Capcom games have struggled with is the roster. Not that they were bad, they were just never able to live up to the 56 characters that Marvel vs Capcom 2 boasted. This roster is stacked to the max. Both the Marvel and Capcom side is awesome.
You have various Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man characters as well as people from franchises such as Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Mega Man, Resident Evil and more. Each character has various colors as well so the roster is the most diverse the series has ever seen.
3 vs 3 Combat
What really makes Marvel vs Capcom 2 so fondly remembered is the combat. This is a fighting game where you pick any three characters you want to form a super team. Each battle requires that you defeat all three characters from the opposing team. You can call in other characters to help you during a battle, tag in and tag out and you can produce these epic super combos that are just spectacular to look at as well as do. What I really like about this game is that it is the kind of game anyone can play. The controls are actually quite simple so that makes it a game that anyone can pick up and have fun with. On the flip side of this, you can also get very, very in-depth with the combat. This is a game that has some serious depth to it if you want to learn it properly. No matter how serious you get about the game one thing that is for sure is that you will be having a great time.
Flashy And Awesome!
I still think that Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a fantastic looking game. The characters all look great and some of them (Venom always springs to mind) have phenomenal animation that will really knock your socks off. The stages as well are great. Each stage has some awesome effects to it. My only gripe is that there are not enough of them. There are not a ton of stages so you do cycle through them pretty quickly, thankfully the stages that are here are very well done.
While the presentation is great and full of flash and special effects. One area that is a bit of a let down is the endings. There are no character-specific endings in this game which is rather disappointing if I am being honest.
As you have probably guessed, I love Marvel vs Capcom 2. It is a fighting game that is just so much fun to play. No matter if you are just messing around with friends on a game night or if you are wanting to get serious and go pro! This is a game that it is impossible not to have a wonderful time with.
Pros:
- Over 50 characters to choose from
- Fun and exciting gameplay
- Playing against friends is a lot of fun
- While easy to play, it does have a lot of depth
- The presentation is incredible
Cons:
- I do wish there were a few more stages
- No character-specific endings
