UML diagrams compliment inline documentation ( javadoc ) and allow to better explore / understand a design. Moreover, you can print and bring them to table to discuss a design.
In this post, we will install and use the ObjectAid plugin for Eclipse to produce jUnit lib class diagrams. Then, we will be able to generate UML diagrams by simply dragging and dropping classes into the editor. We can further manipulate the diagram by selecting which references, operations or attributes to display.
Open Eclipse and go to Help > Install New Software

| Hi Did you think to look at http://wiki.eclipse.org/Papyrus_User_Guide? What problems did you have following http://wiki.eclipse.org/Papyrus_User_Guide#Create_a_diagram_from_an_existing_uml_file? Explicit mention of Papyrus added to conclusion of UML Getting Started tutorial. | Hi Ed, Yes, I read the http://wiki.eclipse.org/Papyrus_User_Guide?#Model.2FDiagram_creation_wizard , you talk about item 'Create a diagram from an existing uml file' correct? So, I don't find the option 'Initialize papyrus diagram'... I guess that the version of this manual is old... Thanks again. |

| Hi Sorry, I thought these problems had been fixed. I know I had troubles in the past because I didn't expect to look in the Model Explorer of the papyrus Perspective. Trying now I can't even get my UML file to appear. Checking Bugzilla at least Bug 348847 and 348842 regarding Diagram creation are still open. I suggest starting this question again using the correct newsgroup; the eclipse.papyrus newsgroup/forum. Someone there may be more intelligent than me.
